Our varietal specific wines are made from a single grape variety grown in a single vineyard.
These wines reflect the purity of the particular grape flavor profile and show the various vineyard nuances (terroir). They are referred to as having “a sense of place.”
All the vineyards are carefully farmed by hand for small berries and concentrated flavors.
The wines are made in small lots, with careful attention paid to every detail.
Each wine comes from a single vineyard representing the grape varietal characteristics in the wine as presented by the respective vineyard’s terroir for each vintage.
They are also most difficult to make since the growing protocols, vineyard management and winemaking must be both natural and perfect because any amendments to the wine will show through.
All Williamson wines are first made as single-vineyard, single-varietal wines. Examples of each vintage find their way into bottle as a single varietal. These wines show the quality of the sustainably-farmed vineyards, the terroir effect of that year's climate and the pure science of our non-interventionalist, natural winemaking.
With the remaining wines we now practice the black art of blending to produce a series of flavor consistent wines, a second group of fun wines and a third group of traditional blends.
Dawn and Bill will tell you their winemaking philosophy can be summed up in one sentence - "We do everything possible to make each vintage of red and white wine worthy of our magnificent Northern California terroir and to perpetuate our tradition of excellence."
